We are a harmonic team of dedicated and international Wind Engineering master students. Our shared motivation is to practically apply our knowledge and to learn how to build wind turbines. We all like to experiment and discover – this project enables us to learn from our failures and improve, both professionally and personally.

Florian "Flo" Roscheck is a mechanical engineer who loves to play around with microcontrollers in his free time. As an industrial mechanic he also has some manufacturing experience. Being passionate about professional tinkering this is the third student contest project he participates in.

He took over project management and several mechanical and electrical engineering tasks in the project. Florian designed the furling system, the safety microcontroller, the hub connection, the frame and the website.

I did my Bachelor of Engineering as an economical engineer with focus on energy and environmental management at the University of Applied Science Flensburg. From the start of my Bachelor I wanted to work in a field of energy efficiency or renewable energies. After finishing my Bachelor in 2013 I started the corporate Master in Wind Engineering at the UAS Kiel and UAS Flensburg.

Motivation:
I wanted to participate in this project to apply gained knowledge on field-test. With my gained knowledge in braking systems it was attractive for me to cover this field.
My tasks in this project were to think about an independent fail-safe braking system. I also took the lead in manufacturing and had an eye on the finance.

Robert Rudolf

"Rob" is a Research Engineer at the Wind Energy Technology Institute in Flensburg and an external PhD student at KIT in Karlsruhe, Germany. He is developing structural design optimization technology to accelerate the design process for wind turbines, with specific application to material efficient structures (e.g. guyed or jacket structures) and mass-customization (e.g. site-specific foundation design). He holds advanced degrees in Wind Engineering and Manufacturing. Before relocating to Germany and transitioning to wind energy research in 2011, Robert worked in mechanical engineering and operations management roles at automotive supplier BorgWarner in the USA and in Asia. His interests are triathlon, kitesurfing, and coaching HOLI’s successors: the 2015 Flensburg student small wind turbine team!

Motivation:

Apply the in the lectures gained knowledge about wind turbines and build a wind turbine with my own hands was a nice experience.
Work in a great team with a lot of difference competences was also a experience I do not want to miss.

I did my Bachelor of Science as a mechanical engineer in the field of energy techniques at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück. With the intension of working in the field of renewable energy, i started my master in 2012 at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg (Wind Engineering).

My part during the contest was the structural design and manfacturing of the blades and the design hub, nacelle and the spinner.
My motivation for the contest was to challenge myself in a project which contains a technology fo the future and where I can prove and improve my skills in teamwork and the fiel of "Wind Engineering"

I am studying Renewable Energy Tecnology at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. Wind Energy is a big part of my studies so I was more than happy to participate in this project and do some practical work. My job was to manufacture the aerodynamic body of the turbine.
