The Wind Energy Technology Institute is the main sponsor of the HOLI 300 project. The institution supported us not only with funds to purchase the components of our project, but also provided office space, computers and engineering software without which the project would not have been possible.
The Wind Energy Technology Institute (WETI) is an institute supported by funds from the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg, the Association for Energy and Climate Protection in Schleswig-Holstein and a group of companies from the wind business.
The institute was founded on November 1, 2010 and has its focus on the cooperation between university and industry ever since. The main tasks are the training of qualified students, the implementation of applied research and knowledge transfer.
The knowledge transfer is established by lectures, research and training projects, publications and consulting activities for companies and associations, especially in the wind business. Student projects in companies support the cooperation between the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, other universities and the industry partners. WETI organizes the international cooperation between universities, companies and organizations for the wind business.
The institute is supported by students, research assistants and a second professorship since January 2012.
All of us studied at the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg. During the project we used a variety of the university’s facilities and services.
At Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (FUAS) we are at the very top of Germany – geographically as well as in a number of university rankings. This is reflected by the number of our students having grown by 100% in the course of the last decade. We currently have about 4,200 students enrolled in degree programmes mainly focussed on engineering and economics.
Cooperating with partners from industry, politics, society and other educational institutions is an integral part of our everyday activities. This includes working closely together with partners from “our region” which stretches from Northern Germany – our home and place of origin – as far as the Southern part of Denmark.
Working across borders and internationally is more than just a maxim for us, it is a crucial part of our everyday life, in research as well as geographically. More than 60 universities on 5 continents are part of our global network of partner universities. Our students benefit from FUAS’s more than 20 years of experience in international relations and exchange programmes and get the opportunity to broaden their horizons and improve their foreign language skills during their studies.
